Pastor's Desk
Hello,
My name is Jim Neeson, and I became pastor
of Boomer Baptist Church on December 28, 2008. We moved from
Chesapeake, Virginia and filled the pulpit of Boomer Baptist on
February 1, 2009 Super bowl Sunday. I can say it is a pleasure to
be apart of this church. As you read its history it has survived a
hundred years. That is no small thing. A number of men have pastored
this church down through the years each adding a part to the
building blocks that have made Boomer Baptist what it is today. We are
grateful to have a part in that process and I believe with what
is going on in the world that we may be the generation to see the
coming of the Lord.
I was saved while serving in the USN on board the USS Dwight
D. Eisenhower in the last days of August in the year of 1978. God used
the truth of His Coming to save me. After serving my enlistment of four
years I left the Navy for Bible College. I attended Tabernacle Baptist
Bible College in Greenville, SC. It was there I met my wife Janet and
was married by Dr. Harold B. Sightler. The Lord has blessed us with
five children, four girls and a boy. Two of our oldest girls, Shannon
and Karen, will graduate May 2009 from Tabernacle Baptist Bible
College with education majors. My third daughter Hannah is finishing
her third year of nursing school at Pensacola Christian College. My
fourth daughter, Amanda, graduates this year and will also be attending
Pensacola this fall. And Joshua has two years left in high school.
Boomer Baptist Church is an exciting church which offers many
ways to serve the Lord. God has blessed our church with men whose
hearts are ready to serve and do a good job at it. Boomer enjoys good
godly music with a dedicated music director and a singing choir! The
specials are heart warming and will bless your soul. We have
Sunday School for every age with teachers that make a difference. We
have shut-in ministries where our ladies visit the elderly in their
homes. We have a family in our church that reaches out to minister in
the nursing homes close by in monthly services faithfully preaching the
Word of God to those who no longer are able to attend the services at
the church. Boomer also has a Christan School Academy from K-12
grade.
We have graduates that are serving the Lord faithfully here at home and
soon to be on the mission field of the Azores. We also reach into a
local prison where I have an opportunity to preach the gospel. Our men
are very supportive of this and attend these services to the great joy
of the inmates. We have correspondence with these men on a daily
basis through Rock of Ages and Source of Light Ministries. One of the
men of our church is a great blessing to those men in his faithful
ministry of the Word of God to them. In the future we will be on
the Radio on 90.5 FM reaching out to our area of the world.
If you ever call Boomer you will most likely be greeted by the
friendly voice of our secretary who has been a part of this church for
almost as long as it has been in existence and these mountains of WV
have kept her young.
I am sure if you are looking for a church that makes a
difference, cares for its people, and has a heart for Missions
(reaching all the world), you
will, we hope, find Boomer Baptist to be such a church. We
invite you to visit our services and we trust that in the event you do
so that God will bless your visit with us.
